What Are Personality Disorders?
Personality disorders are a group of mental health conditions that include Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Antisocial Personality Disorder, Avoidant Personality Disorder, Dependent Personality Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). These conditions are characterized by rigid, long-lasting patterns of behavior and inner experience that deviate from cultural expectations and cause significant distress or impairment.
Signs and Symptoms of Personality Disorders
Symptoms can include intense fear of abandonment, unstable or intense relationships, identity disturbances, impulsive or risky behaviors, chronic feelings of emptiness, emotional instability, difficulty empathizing with others, rigid perfectionism, suspiciousness, and difficulties managing anger. These patterns can deeply affect work, relationships, and emotional well-being.
