Addiction & Mental Health Treatment for North Bergen, NJ Residents
Treatment close to home for North Bergen
North Bergen, Guttenberg, West New York and Union City run together along the Palisades, and together they are one of the fastest-growing sources of clients for North Jersey Recovery Center. From North Bergen our Fair Lawn center is about twenty-five minutes — closer than most of the programs on the Hudson waterfront would have you believe.
Getting to Fair Lawn from North Bergen
From North Bergen, Route 495 or Paterson Plank Road to Route 3 west, then Route 17 north to Route 4 west, Saddle River Road and Route 208 — about twenty-five minutes. Kennedy Boulevard to Route 495 is the quickest way out of the north end. Our team arranges transportation for clients in the local service area, and Spanish-speaking staff are available.
What we see in North Bergen — and how we treat it
The North Hudson towns have some of the densest housing in the state, which makes privacy hard and makes an outpatient program twenty-five minutes away attractive. Our co-occurring program treats the depression and anxiety alongside the substance use, and Medication-Assisted Treatment is available for opioid and alcohol use from the first week.
Programs available to you
North Jersey Recovery Center is a licensed, Joint Commission–accredited outpatient treatment center for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Everything happens at one location, 22-08 Route 208 in Fair Lawn, and every client from North Bergen starts with the same first step: a comprehensive clinical assessment, usually the same day you call, reviewed by our clinical and medical directors to recommend a level of care. If it is a fit, you can start the next day.
- Partial Care (PHP) — full treatment days, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., five days a week, with lunch provided. Typically two to five weeks before stepping down.
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — three-hour blocks in the morning (9:00–12:00) or early afternoon (12:30–3:30), Monday through Friday, so you can keep working or caring for family.
- Evening IOP — 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, for people who commute or work days.
- Outpatient counseling — weekly individual and group sessions as a step-down or a starting point.
- Medication-Assisted Treatment — buprenorphine (Suboxone), naltrexone and Vivitrol coordination, acamprosate and naloxone, prescribed by our medical team alongside therapy, with medication management available after the program ends.
Individual therapy is weekly in both Partial Care and IOP, and more often when someone needs it. If work or school hours conflict, clients can shift to a later block or make up missed hours in the evening. If medically supervised detox is needed first, we coordinate it with accredited partners and hold your place.
Insurance
We work with most major insurance plans, including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and Oxford, and out-of-state Blue Cross plans. Every plan is different, so our admissions team verifies your benefits before your first visit and explains what they mean in plain language — see our insurance guide or use the confidential verification form.
