Addiction & Mental Health Treatment for Jersey City, NJ Residents
Treatment close to home for Jersey City
Jersey City is one of the three biggest sources of calls to our center, and nearly half of the Jersey City residents we have treated started with us in 2025 or 2026. The question we hear most is simply “how far is it?” — about thirty minutes, and we help with the ride.
Getting to Fair Lawn from Jersey City
From Jersey City, Route 1&9 or the Turnpike to Route 3 west, Route 17 north and Route 4 west to Saddle River Road and Route 208 takes about thirty minutes outside rush hour; from Journal Square or the Heights, Route 495 to Route 3 is quicker. For clients who do not drive, NJ Transit’s Main Line runs from Secaucus Junction north toward Paterson and Ridgewood, and our team arranges transportation for clients in the local service area.
What we see in Jersey City — and how we treat it
Jersey City residents who work in Manhattan usually fit best in our Evening IOP, which meets Monday through Thursday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., or in a day program on a leave of absence. If you are coming from a stay at Jersey City Medical Center or Christ Hospital, we can take that step-down directly into Partial Care so there is no gap between discharge and the first group.
Programs available to you
North Jersey Recovery Center is a licensed, Joint Commission–accredited outpatient treatment center for adults with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Everything happens at one location, 22-08 Route 208 in Fair Lawn, and every client from Jersey City starts with the same first step: a comprehensive clinical assessment, usually the same day you call, reviewed by our clinical and medical directors to recommend a level of care. If it is a fit, you can start the next day.
- Partial Care (PHP) — full treatment days, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., five days a week, with lunch provided. Typically two to five weeks before stepping down.
- Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) — three-hour blocks in the morning (9:00–12:00) or early afternoon (12:30–3:30), Monday through Friday, so you can keep working or caring for family.
- Evening IOP — 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, for people who commute or work days.
- Outpatient counseling — weekly individual and group sessions as a step-down or a starting point.
- Medication-Assisted Treatment — buprenorphine (Suboxone), naltrexone and Vivitrol coordination, acamprosate and naloxone, prescribed by our medical team alongside therapy, with medication management available after the program ends.
Individual therapy is weekly in both Partial Care and IOP, and more often when someone needs it. If work or school hours conflict, clients can shift to a later block or make up missed hours in the evening. If medically supervised detox is needed first, we coordinate it with accredited partners and hold your place.
Insurance
We work with most major insurance plans, including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and Oxford, and out-of-state Blue Cross plans. Every plan is different, so our admissions team verifies your benefits before your first visit and explains what they mean in plain language — see our insurance guide or use the confidential verification form.

The first call
Call us, or reach admissions online. A real person answers, the conversation is confidential, and it usually ends with a same-day assessment appointment. Whether you are calling for yourself or for someone in Jersey City you are worried about, that first call is the whole first step — we handle the rest.
